On Saturday October 15, 2016 we helped celebrate the wedding of Bonita and William. The wedding took place at the beautiful Omni King Edward Hotel in the Vanity Fair ballroom. This is our second time DJ’ing at this magnificent venue.

One thing we’ve noticed about this wedding venue is that they have a lot of staff. After the ceremony the room changed over for the wedding reception. Staff at the venue re-arranged all the chairs from the ceremony and added in tables for the sit down dinner reception.

We arrived at the venue at 2pm and started loading in our equipment using the loading dock. We were greeted by a lovely lady who works at the venue for over 30 years!  It helps to have helpful staff at the venue who are willing to assist as needed.  We made a few trips to and from our vehicle before parking across the street in the paid underground parking.  After all of our equipment was in the loading dock we proceeded to load the elevator with our belongings.  The elevator was busy since the venue had multiple weddings that night. If you are planning on using these elevators, please remember to pack some patience! Finally we arrived to the 2nd floor and started making our way into the Vanity Fair Ballroom, while passing the kitchen through the corridor.

Upon arrival, we met with the photographers.  We setup all our equipment in the venue space for the ceremony. Since we came early, we had a few minutes to spare to take a breath and enjoy the venue space. Soon after flowers were brought in and other vendors started arriving.

We setup our speakers and taped down any wires to avoid anyone tripping and falling.  We finished the DJ setup by 3pm and guests started arriving after 4pm.

Around 4:30pm we met with Ron at Enduring Promises Officiant Company to ensure we were on the same page. We went through the itinerary and we offered him our wireless microphone to use. We strongly recommend people to use a microphone, especially at wedding ceremonies.

Around 5pm we started the wedding ceremony and we helped coordinate by providing music at the appropriate times. It was really nice to be part of this special celebration.

It was also nice to see Bonita and William, not to mention their friends and family.  We could tell they were both really happy and relieved from all the wedding planning.

The feeling you get when you walk down the aisle with your father is hard to explain in words, but we could tell this was the time Bonita was waiting for!

After the ceremony was over the guests went outside the ballroom for the cocktail hour. Guests were greeted with wine and various drinks along with hors d’oeuvres. While the guests were enjoying drinks, the venue staff prepared the room for the reception.

We took the time to meet with the official MC, Tony Yip and settled him into his role. He was nervous so we helped him find his touch. We let him know he will do a great job and assured him we were there to help.

At 6pm we opened the doors again and let guests re-enter the ballroom.  Soon after, we asked guests to be seated and welcomed everyone to Bonita & William’s Wedding!  Later, we introduced the MC who started the grand entrance introductions in both English and Chinese.

There was about 4 courses and everyone enjoyed the meal. Luckily we had a close enough table near our DJ booth, where we were able to enjoy a vendor meal as well.

Bonita was really focused on the itinerary in the sense that she wanted to get through all the important items and so not to bore the guests. With that said, the dance-floor was opened around 9:30-10pm and so the guests were able to dance and enjoy for a good 3-4 hours!

We have to say this crowd was amazing! We saw the best dance moves that night!

Also, we have to thank the Wedding MC, Tony Yip who did an amazing job!

We witnessed firsthand a new way of conducting the bouquet toss which got everyone on the dance-floor.
