Frequently Asked Questions and other information

The following information applies to Weddings. How much would you charge to DJ at my wedding? This is far by the most frequent question we and other DJ companies receive. Why does everyone ask this question? Everyone is looking to save money because Weddings are expensive. We would not recommend settling when it comes to your DJ entertainment. This is because you don't want your wedding to be boring (people staring at one another). With good music they can dance and enjoy the Wedding. A DJ really does make or break the event. We have heard complaints from friends that other DJs/DJ companies don't play upbeat songs or they play the wrong songs or the transition between songs is not smooth or does not flow. Thus it is really important to choose the right DJ/DJ company for your wedding. See below for what we recommend as being good qualities for a DJ. Email your event details to us and we will provide you with a quote after we learn more about your event. Our email is info@djizm.org

What are the qualities, traits, experience and/or skills you consider in order to be a good DJ?

A good DJ is someone who has a broad range of knowledge in music - artists and songs, they should also have a strong background in music that is required and essential for Weddings. The DJ should play the popular songs or songs that the client has requested as opposed to songs he/she favours. A good DJ should be able beat-match but it is not necessary that he/she needs to mix 100% of the event/show. The DJ should have some knowledge of equipment. The DJ should have professional DJ equipment. If you are unsure of whether or not your DJ is good or recommended, please email us at info@djizm.org.

What are your goals or visions as an Entertainment Company?

We want everybody to be happy when booking and using our service. We aim to have people dancing and enjoying themselves. Our goal is to provide good customer service along with affordable rates. We expect to earn your business and we wouldn't want to lose your business based on price. Potential customers and previous clients can expect quick replies from our DJ staff.

What steps can I take as a bride/groom to book a reliable DJ?

Do your research. Browse the web, shop around, visit bridal shows and call references. Bridal shows are just for information and to see what companies are out there. DJ companies simply just pay approximately $1400.00 and they have themselves a booth. So being a DJ at a bridal show alone does not mean they are reliable or good. The DJ or DJ company should have a website, pictures from past events, perhaps some videos or a portfolio. Most importantly, a great personality!

What do you wear to events?

You can let us know what you would like us to wear. Men's suit, business casual or jeans. We dress accordingly at a function; we would not wear jeans to a wedding.

We need a flexible DJ who can listen to us, can your company do that for us?

Yes, we are flexible with music and we will listen to you. Whether you want the music louder or softer, we are going to help you, that is our promise to you.

More tips on booking a DJ/Wedding DJ

Choose the right DJ for your event or wedding. Compare different options and do your research in person, online and on the phone. Ask your friends or family for advice. They may have hired a DJ so they have experience and knowledge of which DJs are good or what to look out for. Fill out contact forms on different DJ's websites and see who contacts you first. Obviously choose a DJ that interests you. The DJ should be in touch with you shortly to answer any questions or make suggestions to you. He or she should also advise you as to whether or not he/she is available to DJ at your event/wedding. It is always great if you let the DJ know about your event including the number of people, age group, location, song style, your expectations, itinerary, whether you need lights or an MC, etc. The more information you provide the DJ, the better. We understand that finding the right DJ can be challenging and that's why we are trying to help. The perfect DJ for you depends on your requirements. Watch videos and view photos from the DJs website to see the DJ in action. Be sure to read testimonials from those who have hired the DJ in the past and who have left useful feedback about their experiences. This should provide you with some piece of mind. Book early because you may need to book 6 or even 12 months in advance. Get a contract and read it carefully. Most professional wedding DJs will also require a deposit in order to secure them. Don't be scared to pay the deposit. Follow up with your wedding DJ as often as you can or need to. Don't be shy about making sure your disc jockey knows exactly what you want. Most DJs want to know all the details as they rather avoid surprises. Ask if you can send a song-list and ask the DJ if he/she can play from it and/or take requests. Be sure to include songs your guests may want to hear. You can also include songs you absolutely don't want to hear.
